Borpalota (Wine Palace) is in downtown of Gyongyos, in Matra Wine Region, 80 kilometres from Budapest, capital of Hungary. Our aim is to become the processing centre of vines growing in Gyongyos area and in the city of Gyongyos itself which has considerable wine-growing traditions and to make quality wines satisfying every demand. Borpalota, true to its name and to the memory of the founders living hundred years ago, again wants to be the winery centre and the symbol of the wine-growing area and the city and the prime mover of wine tourism in Matra. Our chief wine-grower, Peter Varga does excellent, conscientious work which is reflected in the eminent results of the local, national and international wine competitions in the last few years. In 2008 he was elected the Wine-Grower of the Year in Matra Wine Region. At the moment there are 140 hectares of vineyard in the cultivation of Borpalota.

Red Wine
Hungary is famous for both red and white wines. Here you can find excellent reds from all over Hungary. Discover Cabernets, Merlots, Pinots and Syrahs from Old World and our unique local grapes such as Kekfrankos and Zweigelt. Don't miss Bikaver (Bull's Blood) as being the most famous Hungarian red.
White Wine
The best known Hungarian white wine is sweet Tokaji. We bring you the best Tokaji wines and we encourage you to taste excellent dry whites, too. Our Furmint, Gewürtztraminer or (almost) unpronunceable Harslevelu are must try. Hope you will enjoy the new taste of Old World.
Dessert Wine
Hungary is famous for its botrytized dessert wine from Tokaj Wine Region, called Tokaji Aszu. Beside Tokaji Aszu here you can find Late Harvest for everyday drinking and Tokaji Essence for collectors; and we have dessert wine from Sopron Wine Region, too.
